About This Project

India's first open database of verified industrial emissions.

Why This Exists

India accounts for 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Heavy industry — steel, cement, aluminium, power — is a major contributor. SEBI requires the top 1,000 listed companies to disclose their emissions in BRSR filings. But the data is buried in thousands of PDFs across BSE and NSE. No one aggregates it.

We do. Every number on this site is extracted from the original filing, verified against the source page, and published for free. Because carbon accountability shouldn't require a Bloomberg terminal.

What We Do

Extract emissions from BRSR filings

We read every BRSR filed with BSE/NSE, find Principle 6 Q7, and extract Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions. Every data point links to the source PDF and page number.

Verify against satellite data

We match company disclosures with Climate TRACE satellite estimates. When a company reports X but satellites observe Y, that gap becomes visible on every company page.

Publish stories from the data

Raw data is necessary but not sufficient. We write data-driven stories that surface the real insights — which companies are getting worse, who's greenwashing, and what the trends mean for India's climate goals.

Who Built This

This project is built by a team with deep experience in industrial data engineering and heavy industry operations. We understand how emissions data is generated inside steel plants, cement kilns, and smelters — because we've worked with the production data firsthand.

Editorial Independence

This site takes no payment from any company in this database in exchange for coverage, placement, ranking, or removal.

Separately, we offer emissions calculation services to Indian manufacturers for BRSR, CBAM, and buyer compliance. Those are commercial relationships with companies that may also appear in this database. That is a conflict of interest, and we handle it as follows:

•Any company that is a consulting client is labelled as such on its page, for as long as its data stays published.
•No figure is added, changed, or removed at a company's request. Corrections are made only where a source filing supports them, and every one is published in the corrections log.
•Consulting work does not determine which companies are covered, how they are ranked, or what stories are published.

Open Data

All emissions data on this site is derived from public filings and open datasets. Journalists, researchers, and activists are welcome to use it with attribution. Cite the original sources (BRSR filings, Climate TRACE) as well as this tracker.
